The Architectural Imagination Taubman Fellowship at the US Pavilion for the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale

The 2016 US Pavilion curators, and the University of Michigan selected 6 Taubman Fellows to assemble and install the Architectural Imagination exhibition in Venice, Italy. Under the guidance of Cynthia Davidson and Monica Ponce de Leon, Senior Exhibition Designer Brian Butterfield worked directly with the Taubman Fellows to complete the exhibition.

Deliverables: 

  • Art Handling and crate documentation of 39 individual crates comprising of all parts of the 12 architectural projects exhibited.

  • Assembly of architectural models from 12 unique projects.

  • Assembly and installation of exhibition shelves.

  • Precise, measured, and secure installation of all framed works from the 12 architectural projects.

  • Material handling and design project solutions for each unique room in the pavilion.

  • Communication with local crafts workers.

  • Vinyl exhibition text installation on 18 walls in the pavilion.

  • Opening ceremony docents serving as experts on each project in the pavilion.

  • Communication with press and architects as needed.
